Leonardo da Vinci’s Mechanical Knight

In the 15th century, Leonardo da Vinci used his knowledge of anatomy and engineering to build a robot. Known as the Mechanical Knight, a suit of armor hid the series of pulleys and levers operating the robot.

The Mechanical Knight mimicked human motion, having the ability to wave its arms, rotate the ankles, knees, and hips, had move a hinged jaw and flexible neck.

Over 500 years later, Triple Dash and the other Builder robots are far more advanced than anything da Vinci could devise, but they can trace their origins back to his early designs.
