Home Farm, George Washington’s childhood home
In The Hesperus Prophecy, the farm where George Washington grows up is referred to as Home Farm. While it was later known as Ferry Farm, due to a ferry crossing the Rappahannock River on the farm’s property, it’s unclear what it was called when George Washington lived there.
Washington’s family moved to Home Farm when he was 6 years old, and he inherited the farm at 11 years old, after his father died. In 1754, after his brother Lawrence died, George Washington moved from Home Farm to Mount Vernon, where he resided for the rest of his life.
