Pierre-Auguste Renoir
During breakfast in Nancy’s Place's dining room, Declan and James notice the abundant artwork hanging on the walls. Declan gravitates to an original Monet painting while James enjoys a sumptuously iced cinnamon roll near a Renoir.
Embrie explains the Clypeate is guarding these paintings for Andrew Mellon until the National Gallery of Art is completed and ready to display them. James is unimpressed by the Renoir painting. Not a fan of French Impressionism, he does not appreciate the blurriness. He does, however, enjoy being able to eat a messy breakfast treat inches from a priceless painting without getting reprimanded.
This painting no longer hangs in Nancy’s Place. It is now displayed at the National Gallery of Art down Constitution Avenue from Clypeate Headquarters. As an aside, Renoir’s best painting, in my opinion, is the Dance at Bougival, and hangs in Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts.
